I use this on macaroni salad and potato salad also but with less sugar, and add a tablespoon of finely grated onion and dollop of horseradish for pizazz. Or leave out the horseradish and add some dill. And it HAS to be Miracle Whip - NOT mayo! :-)

This called PawPaw dressing. My dear dad used to make this salad dressing, long before "honey mustard" hit the market.
Miracle Whip
Teaspoon of sugar or honey (sugar substitute if diabetic)
Teaspoon of Mustard
Dash of Paprika
Little bit of milk or cream to make it creamy
And Stir to dissolve the sugar.

Other recipes:
Mayonaise
Cracked Pepper
Dash of cayenne pepper
Dash of Paprika
dash of onion powder
Cream for consistency
Now you can add: Crumbled Blue Cheese, or Feta Cheese
Or add Ketchup and relish for thousand island.
The base of Mayonaise and cream is the start of any dressing where you want to add your favorite spices and ingredients.

My favorite is balsamic vinegar dressing:
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 T. honey
1/2 t. dijon mustard
garlic (or garlic salt)
salt

I adjust seasonings to whatever I decide for the occasion. Saves well in fridge for a week or more.

This isn't really a recipe just something I've thrown together.

Have made my own avocado dressing with an avocado, sautéed garlic, salt, pepper and a little lime and put it in the blender. I like this over a salad, chicken salad and sandwiches sometimes instead of mayo.

I’m always on the look out for homemade salad dressings and am bookmarking this.
