I have a new urge. To make salad dressings from scratch at home instead of buying the bottle.
Anyone have any recipes? Don't care which kind. |
the best salad dressing ever
1/2 cup red wine vinegar 3/4 cup sugar 3 cloves garlic 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon paprika Blend on high in blender for 2 minutes slowly add 1 cup canola oil while blending on high |
I don't use a recipe, but I make a basic oil (extra virgin olive) and vinegar (usually cider vinegar) dressing with whatever seasonings are on hand (maybe Italian, some garlic powder), a little salt and pepper. Then I add some grainy mustard to make an emulsion. I prefer this over bottled dressings.

I reduce blueberrys or raspberrys down into a syrup and add just a hint of sugar to take off the rawness and use it on fresh salad greens, I also take and mash a garlic clove with a bit of salt and add some olive oil

I use this for lettuce and macaroni salad
1 cup Mirical whip (salad dressing) 1 Tbsp lemon juice 3 Tbs sugar Mix well for macaroni salad I add about 1/2 tsp pepper |
Here's a Rachael Ray one that I like. When I make the salad I add other fruits too besides strawberries. Sometimes add Italian seasoning too.

I make my version of Thousand Island by mixing Mayonnaise, ketchup and relish.

Raspberry Vinaigrette ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Equal parts * vinegar (any type, I usually use regular, white) * salad oil (any type, I usually use canola oil) * raspberry jam (made with sugar or sugar free) Shake together well. (I usually mix with immersion blender Variations ~~~~~~ * look for other types of jams/jellies/marmalades * add spices that match the jam. Eg. ginger with marmalade, etc. * I've used homemade cranberry sauce, in place of the jam * try maple syrup in place of the raspberry jam; balsamic vinegar is a nice combo with the maple syrup |
