Easy Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt (scant amount)
1/2 cup butter or shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats

Directions

In a separate bowl cream together the shortening and both sugars until light. Works best with a hand mixer or kitchen aid mixer. Add the vanilla and egg and mix well.

Drop by tablespoon full onto a baking sheet and place in preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are slightly browned. Remove from oven and let sit for a few seconds before removing them from the baking pan. They will fall apart if they are removed to quickly.

Cool on a wire rack.

I can not have any kind of nuts. The recipe is needed because it helps my crohns disease. (I get very sick at my stomach and the oatmeal cookies settle it down sometimes. The maple syrup sounds great. I have never seen a no bake recipe. I am just looking for regular cookies.
