Thanks for all your good suggestions, everyone! She has decided to get Meals on Wheels two times a week and then to fill in with Lean Cuisine for a while. I am standing by just in case. Also, our town's Mutual Aid group knows I will be happy to make meals for people so may yet call me in the future. I had been delivering some food shelf packages to people but the boxes were too heavy for me to carry (I'm almost 72) and DH has developed a hernia (not from carrying, we think, but being an over-achiever at the rower).

Good to know that she has put together a plan!

A couple of things to consider when preparing for others.... food safety is utmost!
It needs to be addressed from preparation through to delivery.
Remember to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
And in these temperatures, that can be challenging for both.

The other biggie, that we are all facing ... COVID-19.
The risk of delivering COVID ..... or in having it returned to you.
Thus, better to kindly refuse any packaging returns.

A nice perk to brighten her life, might be to give her a placemat and matching napkin ... or two! After all, we as quilters, do have the "raw materials" to make that happen!

That's probably just as well. It's hard to make meals for someone all the time. Besides, Meals on Wheels is a great program. I delivered for them once a week for many years. The food is rather bland, but it's, for the most part, healthy. My mom also received MOW and she liked the convenience.

Does she have any limitations to what she can eat as far as anything hard to chew for her as such? Make a roast in the crock pot and shred and that can be 2 or 3 meals. Make a baked potatoe and veggie. I make a roast and shred some of it put BBQ sauce in the crock pot and that is another meal. There are also many soups she may like and that can be frozen in a container for her to just pull out and heat up in the microwave. I think you are getting a lot of ideas on here too.

What a thoughtful lady you are! I'm sure she appreciates your efforts to help her.

I often brown a lb of hambuger, drain the fat, and add a jar of Ragu. I boil 2 cups of wide noodles, then mix the two together. This plus a green salad makes two meals for my husband and me, 4 meals for her. A bread roll and some parmesan cheese is nice too. I find that it freezes very well. You could make a batch, divide it into 4 meals, give her two and freeze two for later.

I used to make my cousins beans and cornbread they loved them. Also took them homemade rolls or loaves of bread mostly rolls. Goulash was always a winner as well.
