ok I love kale but have never hear of doing this. Can I do this in my dehydrator without the oil? Or do you need the oil to make them crisp?

I made kale chips last year from home-grown kale. I felt like a cow munching on grass. It was awful. I do like kale, just not as chips!

For anyone that suffers from arthritis, Kale is good for relieving the pain. I know it sounds weird but its right up there with spinach. I have never tried the chips , but I will now. Thanks for the recipe!

I tried that a few weeks ago, but they tasted really bitter. Did I just get a bad batch or is that kind of how it tastes?

Love kale and seaweed and eat them both on a regular basis just plain or mixed in with food. My kids like kale steamed with potatoes. After steaming it is all mashed like mashed potatoes except there is steamed kale in there. top it all with a meatball. we also make sushi with seaweed. I have not tried kale chips as I want to stay away from too much oil. I did have seaweed that is sold and is much like you describe the kale chips. We also eat plain toasted seaweed.

One tip is to slice the kale as thin as you can before adding them to the potatoes. I cook it all together in one pot. We eat the stems and everything.

LOL I haven't tried the chips yet but from your description I might pass. Thanks for the good laugh.

Annaquilts you use very little oil. like 3 tsp for a whole bunch of kale. I don't find them bitter but it is maybe a bit of an aquired taste? I love them. But the first bite is like .. what the heck? then they grow on you truly they do if you like veggies its just a nice variety. I think spinach is too delicate if you ask me. its thinner and a bit more watery than kale is therefore would be something you would have to watch super close not sure about the dehydrator. Surely someone has tried it before.
