Well, I'd sure like to "watch" this thread w/o having to post to it -- but no such simple thing as "watch" to click on
anymore! What the devil does 'subscribe' mean? Is it the same thing as the old "watch"? Tried 'subscribing' to two
items but to no avail. New & Improved? NOT!
(In fact, now editing this posting to say it took THREE tries to finally get it on here.
Good grief!)

Here's the recipe that I have:
Poor Man's Cake
2 cups water
1 cup raisins
Cook together for a few minutes to plump raisins
Save 3/4 cup of juice for dough

Cream together:
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
Add 1 egg to creamed mix. Add reserved juice.

Sift together:
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
Add to creamed mixture. Stir in raisins.
Bake in a 10" x 15" baking sheet at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

Frosting
1 cup powdered sugarand enough orange juice to make spreadable. Spread on hot cake.

I never made this cake. The recipe came from my aunt, who would have been 100 years old this year.

Yes! ... subscribe does the job that the old watch did.
Patience .... we've all had to practice a little of this as we learn and adapt to the changes.

I wish you would post the recipe.
