Anyone make there own

Chele 02-02-2011 01:28 PM

I always make my own. It's easy (and cheap!) with a food processor.

Here's a basic recipe: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/hummus/

Make it like you want it with the addition of olives, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, capers, or anything else you love.

I love to experiment adding different ingredients to these basic recipes.

We like to make it with added Italian seasonings... I keep adding the dried herbs to taste :D:D:D

I make it in a food processor too - can of chickpeas (drained), garlic, onion, olive oil, spinach is good too. DH adds something hot to his.
Easy and so much better for you than a sour-cream based dip.

well thanks for the recipe! can we use any other beans to make hummas?

Central Ohio Quilter 02-03-2011 07:28 AM

I have used all different kinds of beans to make bean dip and I also enjoy experimenting with different spices, added vegies, etc. Healthy and yummy!

Tahini is a dip, similar to hummus, but made with sesame seeds.
