I also have this receipe and make it in the summer. I had fresh New Jersey strawberries to the thawed strawberries. Everyone who tries this absolutely loves it. My Mom gave me the receipe, not sure where she got it.

I've also made it with a mixture of fresh and frozen blueberries. Was very good too.

Well, I have guests coming Tuesday night to play cards and I'm going to make your Mom's recipe. It sounds wonderful and I'm sure we will all enjoy it. Thank you for posting it.

I'm definitely trying this recipe. It is so simple and healthy.....as mentioned above I will use the whipped cream......Don't use Cool Whip....too many chemicals......the fruit and angel food cake are a great combination......Thanks for sharing....you do make your grandma proud.....Bea

Oh how we love the recipes from our childhood. Thank you for sharing your well loved recipe. I have many from my childhood that I now share with my cousins and with my own family that were passed down. Mostly baked treats. Oh how I miss those days at my Nanas side baking.....our grandchildren are small now but I hope to build those heartfelt times with them too.

I am so glad you posted this, My Mom is gone now too and she used to make this and I was not sure how she did it. Thanks so much for posting.

This recipe brought back wonderful memories I have of a similar dessert my grandmother made when she was hostess at her house for the neighborhood club (this was a group of rural farming ladies who called the club "Mutual Benefit Club", much like those clubs all across the farm country in the early 20th century when folks got together to help each other). Her recipe was a little different; she used fruit cocktail and whipped cream (the cream readily available in the cool room), but she, too, used angel food cake. My sisters an I loved it when we on the farm when there was club meeting because we would get this wonderful dessert. I never knew what it was called, but when we were adults and made it from memory, we called it "Club". Thanks for posting your recipe, lisajane.

MMM sound good. My favorite birthday cake is to take an angel food cake and cut about an inch off the top. Keep it all in one piece. then you pull out pieces of the inside. GRAMMIE SHARON.... Please tell me more about your recipe... did you let the jello congeal a bit before you put the layers of jello and angel food cake bits back into the hollowed out cake? I was trying to envision how the really liquid jello would react with the cake.

LISA JANE: I've seen this or variations for your recipe over the years, thanks for sharing and it's encouraging me to try it. My husband has the sweetest tooth...thank goodness I don't, and he's tall and skinny and I'm fluffy....go figure?
