Needing help...chocolate milk
Okay, here it is...I am developing a habit of drinking....mocha (Starbucks Frapacino), chocolate milk, and more chocolate milk.
the aforementioned mocha is expensive so, does anyone have a recipe for making it at home. I saved my bottles. |
Starbucks sells their mocha powder on line if that helps. Also Mr Google has a selection of recipes. Curious if anyone tried any of them and how they taste
|
Nope, no help here...I'm addicted to Tim Horton's iced capachinos. Luckily they are a warm weather treat so soon it will be too cold for them.
|
I had a summer of McDonald's chocolate chip frappes, almost every day. So I totally understand. They're not the same if you make them at home, so good luck with your search and I hope it works out for you! Have you tried just mixing the chocolate milk from the store with coffee? Just an idea

Thanks, now, I've got some options...plan on mixing store chocolate milk w coffee.

I have instant expresso powder. Think I will try that.
|
I've been buying the $1.80 sugar free french vanilla iced coffee at McDonald's inside Walmart and I'm an addicted to it. At home I've made sugar free instant hot chocolate mixed with a spoonful of espresso powder. It turned out ok, but it's kind of like a salad you make at home, never as good as the salad bar.

I have found Dunkin Donuts Iced coffee, and better than McD's!! McD's is how I got started drinking any coffee hot or cold.
Sad thing DD just recently discontinued their 99 cent Iced coffees after 3PM. If you join their DDperks program you can get 99 cent dark roast for another 30 days. earn points earn free drinks etc.. My favorite flavors: Rocky Road and Oreo. For our Home brewed Iced coffee we start by using "cold brew" coffee extract, then we add sweetened condensed milk, our flavor syrups, then the rest we fill with skim milk. Pioneer woman has a recipe on her site. Glad I am not the only one who devours Iced coffee and Choc. chip frappes! |
Cannot stand coffee, but do love hot and iced tea the way some people love their coffee, was recently in florida and went to downtown disney and found a neat tea shop, bought loose tea and a cute tall mug that has a screw on strainer where you put the loose tea and pour the hot water over it, then it has a screw on lid.

Not sure about Starbucks, but when I worked at a coffee bar we made our own. The Mocha base was from Mexican hot chocolate. PM me if I can answer any thing else.
|
My DH was addicted to the Frappacinnos, and I started making them with really strong coffee, milk and additional chocolate. Took a little trial and error, but he finally got to where he liked them just as well. A LOT cheaper to make.
|
My DD uses the Mexican hot chocolate from World Market and it is very good. I bought some to use in my coffee and I like it when I want a treat. I love my Kona coffee black and strong.

OH GEE, Hubby goes out of his way to buy Mc D's iced coffee since they are only $ 1. until Tues --been that all summer. I think he is trying to drink all he can knowing the bargain is going to stop. We buy 3 caramel flavor to have one each then he says he's really thirsty so needs that second one. Sounds like a kid .
Oh, if they would only take out the calories as neither of us should be drinking this many to be healthy. Funny thing he doesn't buy them at full price here in Ontario. |
I types a whole story re hubby and McD's iced coffee's but notice came on saying message too short. What's happening it was 2 paragraphs
|
The coffee roasting company I used to work for used both ready made chocolate milk and chocolate syrup with espresso for their mochas.
The hot chocolate is steamed chocolate milk and chocolate syrup. Very sweet and rich. Another use for chocolate milk, use when making Bird's Custard plus some extra cocoa powder. Very yummy. |
If you have a Sam's club membership they have them a lot cheaper.

I have had Starbuck's Frappacino, I didn't pay for it. Next morning I had to go to the grocery store since out of creamer. I like the International Delights Hazelnut and Southern pecan. They now have Hazelnut with macchiato. I made a couple cups to put into a large glass. Made coffee as usual. I only use enough creamer to coat the bottom. Later for supper I had my own version of a frappacino and it was a whole lot better than Starbuck's maybe also because it was lot cheaper.

I never had a taste for coffees like that except for one. My brother bought me a Traverse City cherry cappuccino a few years back. I really liked it. There are only a few places that carry it in my area but that's ok because they are a little expensive not to mention the calories. I'm sure it is loaded with calories. So now it is just a nice little treat once in awhile when I find them. I love coffee & have been drinking too much of that for years. I keep saying I'm going to gradually cut down but that doesn't seem to happen. I need more will power I guess.
|
I had a 4 pack of Starbucks' Frappacinos in bottles - drank one, it was so rich. Used the rest to make ice cream, they are perfect for that.
We are lucky that we have several local, family-owned, cow-to-bottle dairies around here, their chocolate milk is excellent. I treat myself once in a while. |
