My husband and I do the same. Can never seem to eat a whole loaf anymore. Next time at the store I will get a harty bread to try this with.

This sounds seriously yummy. Another think I do with stale bread is to use it for french toast. I soak the bread slices for at least 30 minutes in the egg/milk mixture then "saute" it in a skillet till it is golden and firm. Like to top it with fruit, yum.

I had salad like this last summer.My Sis has been to Italy & she usually adds (cooked) diced chicken or roast beef......& has it for a meal.

I've never had this but have heard it really is good. The recipes I've seen say to to cube the bread and toast as if to make croutons.
