Any Paula Deen fans on here? I've been fixing to make her banana split cake for my granddaughter's birthdya. anyone tried that? It sounds yummy.
Yes it is delicidus just like all of Paulas dishes,
love Paula Deen...my favorite is her pound cakes!!!
I haven’t tried her banana split cake, sounds delicious!! I like one of her mac & cheese recipes. Also her baked beans with apples is delicious! Oh, and almost forgot her recipe (actually her son’s) where you wrap pieces of chicken around cheese and cook it on the stove top. It's been a while since I've made any of these dishes - thanks for the reminer!
I love her butter cakes.
ohhhh, I just made her chocolate flank steak recipe. It was the tastiest piece of meat.
I think just watching her shows has increased my cholesterol. She must have stock in a butter factory somewhere :)

Yep, love Paula Deen and her recipes, a favorite of mine is her pan fried chicken with deep battered onion rings.
for Mother's Day I made her bellini cupcakes. Champagne in the cake with peach filling and an awesome buttery rich peach icing! Yummy!
Love Love Love Paula Dean. Her Toffee Butter Cake is awesome.
Love Paula Dean. I haven't tried that cake but I have made her Gooey Butter Cake in peanutbutter. Thought I was going to die because it was so rich, but yummmy
I tried her "not ya Mama's banana pudding"......to die for

A Banana Split Cake is absolutely delicious, but the recipe I use is a little different than Paula's and, in my opinion, much better.
I think her crust is too thick. I use only 2 cups graham crumbs with 2/3 cup melted butter. You don't have to bake it, either. Just chill it til it hardens (the butter will reharden when it gets cold). This is optional, of course, but sure helps not to turn on the oven on a hot day. Paule's filling is way too sweet, I think. I use only 2 cups powdered sugar. The rest of the cream filling is the same. Spread it on the chilled crust. I use up to 4 bananas, depends on how big they are. You want to cover the whole surface. Also, I soak them in the pineapple juice - prevents them from turning brown. Also, I lay them on the cream filling first to completely cover it, then spread on the crushed pineapple - the pineapplie is easier to spread on the bananas than on the cream. Sometimes, I also add a layer of sliced strawberries, which is totally optional. Once the Cool Whip is spread on, dot the top with maraschino cherries (drained), drizzle with a thin shocolate sauce or icing, and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Chill thoroughly. This is really pretty and is just luscious. BTW, I have a recipe for a delicious eggless cream filling using cream cheese that works with this Banana Split Cake. I use it when an egg-allergic relative is coming, and it is also good for anyone who doesn't want to eat the raw eggs in the above recipe. Let me know if you'd like me to post it. |
I think Paula Deen is the only woman in the world...well...except maybe for Reba McIntyre that my husband would leave me for!! ;)
We both love her to pieces...she has the most infectious laugh!! |
My mom used to make this, was always one of my favorites
I adore her - she makes recipes for the real world. You gotta love anyone that starts out by saying "take a pound of butter" - LOL.
Live near Savannah, GA. Don't like her restaurant Lady & Son's
Went a couple of time, pricey and much to salty. Could not eat the last time I went to salty and told them so. All they said was "Sorry" no compensation. Waste of $21 and have never been back |
Paula Deen, the undisputed queen of the kitchen, IMO!
I subscribed to her magazine when it first came out. Her macaroni & cheese recipe was awful. It looked curdled. She uses way too many cans of stuff & ingredients that I can get the same results with less. I also think she draws that accent like a gun. I have sen her on Good Morning America & she forgets sometimes to use her real country draw. I think she is fake.

Ah Debra, you're entitled to your opinion, whether it coincides with anyone else's or not!
Who ISN'T out for a buck these days? Paula Deen started with nothing, and built an empire... at least she's worked for it instead of waiting for handouts. She gets my respect for that, and for her personality...can't help it, I LOVE that laugh! ;) :) |
Can you please post the recipe for eggless filling using cream cheese? Thanks.
I watched a lot of Food Network shows....for a while. Then, one by one they dropped by the wayside.Maybe too many ingredients wasted on inedible recipes.
I like some things about Paula's show, but just to watch, not for recipes.I cut way back on using fat/sugar, yrs ago...so not many cooking shows left for me.I like Ina Garten & a couple others.Looks to me like all pro chefs use a whole lot of fat.....that's where the flavor is.I love the ones who say "add a tbl of oil to the pan, while giving directions & the oil is going glub glub out of the bottle.:) |
Everything she makes is delish!
Don't know why anyone should be ticked off at you, your entitled to your opinion. I don't like some of the other chefs on the channel but that is my opinon.
Even if does pull out the sweet southern lady thing, she still is fun to watch. I enjoy watching her shows, she always manages to make me giggle. I rarely cook anything she makes because I am trying to cut many of the ingredients down in my diet that she uses before I end up with severe health issues. |
A Paula Dean restaurant just opened
in the Cherokee Casino in Cherokee, NC. Haven't been yet but plan to. J J |

How funny - Reba was the only woman Hubby said he would leave me for. I told him that was OK, Johnny Cash was my man.
My favorite is her peach cobbler. it is the best I have ever tasted.
Please post the eggless cream my husband is cutting back on eggs. Thanks a lot.
Love Paula Deen and everything well almost everything she cooks.
My neighbor makes it, it is very very good!
Debra Mc You got her right.
A couple of years ago someone gave my sister in law one of her cookbooks for Christmas. She asked did I want it cuz she would never use it - Duh I grabbed it so fast almost broke her fingers getting it off of her! haha I have made her fruit bowl dessert so many times I don't even have to look at the recipe. Of course I substitue sugar free pudding when i make it. Gotta cut back where you can !
Debra Mc You have not ticked me off. You hit the nail right on the head. I guess my previous comment about Ladys & Son restaurant ticked them off also.

8 oz. cream cheese, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 8 oz. package Cool Whip, thawed Combine cheese and sugar until well combined. Fold in Cool Whip to combine thoroughly. Spread over crust and chill. (The cheese will stiffen up when it gets cold and then it is really easy to cover it with your fruit.) I think this is the same cream filling used in the strawberry pretzel dessert which everyone loves. Hope you enjoy! |
From her restaurant of from her recipes. Her recipes are better than food at the restaurant.
