Whilst on holiday in Montana we had a desert called Peach Cobbler. Does anybody have a recipe for it?? Thanks Loulou1972 |
There are several posts for cobblers in the recipe section. Just do a search, and they will show up. :wink: I made a cherry cobbler just the other day. I make cobblers the way my Mom always made them.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Put 1/2 stick of butter in a round or square baking dish. Put the dish in the oven until the butter is melted and bubbly. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix by hand until the consistency of a batter. If I'm making an apple cobbler, I will add a teaspoon of cinnamon. Remove baking dish from the oven, and pour in the batter. Add one small can of peaches (I only use a little bit of the juice) or peach pie filling on top of the batter. I use a spoon and place them where I want them to be. You can use either peach halves or slices or you could cut them into chunks. If you don't want to use peaches, you can use any pie filling you would like. Both apple pie filling and cherry pie filling are yummy! You can even use berriies -- any kind. Blackberry cobbler is delicious!!! Bake until nice and golden brown. I test it by touching the top of the crust with my finger to see if it's firm. Cobblers are especially delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!!! :thumbup: My grandmother used to make cobblers in a similar way, but sometimes she would make a crust for the bottom of the pan, pour in the fruit and then top it with a crust. There are many different ways to make a cobbler. Experiment and see what kind you like best! I personally have never met a cobbler I didn't like!!!! :lol: I see that you are from the UK. Simple and good peach cobbler recipe:
1 c. Bisquick 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 egg Mix all ingredients with mixer. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Pour 2 tablespoons of melted butter in 9x13 inch pan. Pour batter in pan. Spoon 3 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches over batter and stir gently. Cook for 1 hour. |
Lazy Day Peach Cobbler:
Mix together well in a bowl: 1 C self-rising flour 1 C sugar In a 9"x13" oblong cake pan: Melt 1 stick of margarine Stir in 1 cup of milk Stir the flour/sugar mixture into the liquid (DO NOT stir flour directly into the liquid, as it causes major lumps) Spoon 1 large (20 oz-?) can of peaches with liquid over the top. Bake at 350 until done. Cinnamon or other spices can be added to the sugar/flour mix Other fruit with adequate liquid can be used in place of peaches. |
I use the same receip, I've even used figs, I thought it would be horrible, but my MIL insisted. Bless her heart it was very good.

This is the recipe my mother used. It is still the best I have ever eaten.
MAMA’S PEACH COBBLER Mix together: 1 cup sugar 1 cup flour 1 tsp. baking powder Pinch salt 2 tblsp. or more melted butter ½ cup (about) milk In saucepan, heat together 2 cups peaches and 1 cup sugar. (For canned peaches, use 2 16 oz. cans and substitute the syrup for the sugar.) Pour batter into heavily buttered 4 inch casserole ( I use an 8x8 or 9x9 baking pan). Pour hot fruit over batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Bake at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. Heavenly while still warm! *************************************** For Berry Cobbler: Double the batter. Use 1 cup sugar and 5 cups berries. Bake in buttered 9x13 pan. **************************************** This is the easiest and best cobbler ever! Even Daddy would eat some of this. The berries were dewberries growing wild along the ditches. Daddy would pick buckets of them while he was at work. |

this is the best cobbler recipe.. my mother used to make it as i make it now all the time. in fact my brother did some "time" and worked as a cook /inmate. he used to make this dessert all the time and got rave reviews from his inmate friends..

The first time I made this receipe I used canned apples, forgot to put the cinnamon in the mixture so I swirled it into the flour mixture on top. It tasted like monkey bread with apples. Right now in the oven is peach cobbler. I was in the freezer and found a quart bag stuffed full with peaches I put up this last summer. It smells sooooo good.

1 can peach pie filling place in the bottom of baking dish
sprinkle 1/2 box yellow cake mix on top of peaches, then cut up 1 stick of butter place on top of dry cake mix, sprinkle with 1 T sugar bake at 325 for about 30 min till top is golden. I use gluten free betty crocker cake mix and Kroger brand gluten free peach pie filling. it's very good. |
