My all-time favorite breakfast is a slice of really good sourdough, toasted & buttered, then spread with avocado mashed with fresh lime juice, then topped with my husband's homemade bacon, and a fried egg on top. And now my mouth is watering. Lol. Usually I'll eat one of those around noon, then dinner about 5 and I'm done for the day.

When I was teaching, I would fix breakfast to eat as I commuted-30 minute drive. Open faced toast, mayo, cheddar cheese, hard fried egg, then, if time, a sausage patty.

I would eat any of the options y'all posted. At home I like any white or sourdough bread toasted with real butter. I have never liked any wheat bread. I do like some rye breads but never think to buy them
since the crust is inferior to the ones we got at the local bakery when I was growing up. Granddaughter makes me avocado toast when we are together. I could make it myself. I don't.

I make my toast, carefully cover it all with sliced aged cheese, then pop it back in the toaster oven until the cheese melts. Yum! If I'm thinking toast, I think of finger food. But, a toasted bagel topped with scrambled egg and gouda, then toasted again to melt the cheese is double yum. Hm, me thinks I like melted cheese!

Me too. Tried Avocado toast and didn't really care for it.

I grew up with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on toast and this is still my go to.
My Mom liked a slice of tomato and mayo on toast. I do this occasionally.

some yummy ideas here,

Toast with butter, sugar and cinnamon. Mother made it for me whenever I was sick.

I haven’t owned a toaster in a long time. We broil bread on a cookie sheet. I was making a slice of toast for our great granddaughter (4 years old) and as usual, I leave the oven door slightly ajar. She asked why I didn’t close the door and I said it’s so I can watch the toast. Then she informed me “why not look through the window ?” Kids are just too smart anymore.
