Tomato soup from the buffet
This area’s long time family buffet closed. Patrons could reserve side rooms for family times or meetings & it’s greatly missed. This recipe is their parting gift to the community.
Tomato Soup Combine 3 quarts diced tomatoes 6 oz. can tomato paste 1 Tblsp baking soda (it neutralizes tomato acid) Heat to 140 degrees. Use large double boiler or set pan in another pan of water on the burner. Whisk together 1 quart boiling water 19 oz jar of original non dairy coffee creamer 1 tsp. black pepper 1/2 tsp. celery salt Add to hot tomatoes and serve. |
Thanks! We are huge tomato soup fans in this house. I hadn't heard of the non dairy coffee creamer but a few years ago I had a spinach soup that had that in it. I'll give it a try next time we are craving soup.

I used to use coffee creamer in place of milk as I rarely had milk in thr house. Now I keep Almond Milk around as it lasts for over a month without going bad.

Thanks for the recipe. Original non dairy coffee creamer, would be non flavored powdered Coffeemate?

My husband could eat grilled cheese sandwiches every day. This soup sounds like a nice side compliment for the sandwich. Thank You for the recipe.

Sounds good. I once had a tomato soup that had cream cheese in it and it was sooo good. This one might be similar, so will give it a try.
