Default Tomato soup from the buffet

This area’s long time family buffet closed. Patrons could reserve side rooms for family times or meetings & it’s greatly missed. This recipe is their parting gift to the community.

Tomato Soup
Combine 3 quarts diced tomatoes
6 oz. can tomato paste
1 Tblsp baking soda (it neutralizes tomato acid)
Heat to 140 degrees. Use large double boiler or set pan in another pan of water on the burner.

Whisk together
1 quart boiling water
19 oz jar of original non dairy coffee creamer
1 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. celery salt
Add to hot tomatoes and serve.

Thanks! We are huge tomato soup fans in this house. I hadn't heard of the non dairy coffee creamer but a few years ago I had a spinach soup that had that in it. I'll give it a try next time we are craving soup.

I used to use coffee creamer in place of milk as I rarely had milk in thr house. Now I keep Almond Milk around as it lasts for over a month without going bad.

My husband could eat grilled cheese sandwiches every day. This soup sounds like a nice side compliment for the sandwich. Thank You for the recipe.

Sounds good. I once had a tomato soup that had cream cheese in it and it was sooo good. This one might be similar, so will give it a try.
