The all-time family favorite around here are sugar cookies made from my grandmother's recipe and iced with buttercream icing. Of course, real butter in the cookies and icing.

The challenge is knowing how much flour as the recipe states 'enough flour to make a soft dough.' The amount varies with the weather I have found, so you just have to develop a feel for it.

I only do these at Christmas.

Our all time favorite is an anise flavored soft cookie with anise flavored icing. But, they are time consuming and usually made for holidays.

The ones we make the most are our own version of oatmeal, white chocolate and nuts. No matter what kind of nuts I use people think they are macadamia nuts. These cookies are requested by our bank personnel, and some other local businesses that we frequent.

My favorites are sort of my own concoction. They're called Wicked Awesome Cookies (in New England, where my family's from, wicked is a good superlative; if it's really really good, then it's wicked good). I saw the base recipe in a book years ago. I can never leave anything alone, so I started to add. These cookies have the best parts of other cookies all rolled into one. Oatmeal, peanut butter, coconut, macadamia nuts, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, Raisinets.....I could go on. I tend to throw in whatever I happen to have on hand. It's a cool day here today...I just might have to make some!!
