Maybe you need to collar the tree with aluminum so they cannot shinny up the tree and rob you. We finally moved our bird feeders to hang from our gutter and they have given up, thank goodness.

I couldn't understand why my huge geraniums would bud but never flower, then noticed squirrels nipping off the buds. They did quit it, however.

We just finished canning Chokecherry juice. Love-love it for syrup!! Also want to make a couple jars of jelly to taste test it. :-). I had 4.5 qts of juice so a lot to play around with.

They grow on a bush and are wild. They bushes can grow very tall and grow gnear rivers and ditches etc. where they can get a lot of water. The berry is small and very bitter when picked and tasted off the bush. You have to boil it 3 hrs (tastes a bit watery), mash the juice out of the berry to get more berry flavor. We just canned the concentrate. When we have pancakes we will open a jar and add sugar (a lot) and you can add a bit of cornstarch to thicken if desired. I am the only one that l-o-v-e-s it. If we don't can it we have to drive to Wyoming to find Chokecherry Syrup that is bottled. If there is any sold in Colorado, I don't know where that is. Now I have enough of the concentrate to last the rest of my life. Haha

I would love to have fig trees! We have wild persimmons that are going off a bit early this year. The trees were LOADED but when they started ripening the local critters started to take notice. So we aren't getting as many. Even my dog loves them! He will run to the tree to try to beat me to the ones on the ground.

My dogs love persimmons also. Have one that loves dill pickles (among many things).

One of my son's cats loves corn on the cob. It's hilarious!
