Usually on Sundays we have our bowling date day and have an unwhich (lettuce wrap) sub, but this week I said we should finally go to the local place down the road from us. Described as "Mediterranean" but family origin seemed to be Palestinian, it was really good! I had the lamb shank special including the hummus, pita and rice; husband had a kabob platter plus a side of shwarma, no carbs (both came with a nice salad). We will most likely go there again, but I'll probably take cheaper options than the lamb.

Today I have the other half of the pork belly from last weekend on the smoker. Haven't done anything with it and it needed to be cooked. Covered heavily with Montreal spice, basically uncured bacon. I will smoke it low until the husband comes home, then cut width-wise slice and sear them.

Tonight we are having pizza delivered. I don't want to cook and husband doesn't want to grill. I'm busy in my sewing room and he's busy in his shop. Best days!

I'm making a simple Ratatouille with all of our garden produce and baked salmon...and maybe some garlic bread.

BLT tonight. And a side of creamed cucumbers. Using our own garden produce.

Oooh Tranum, where did you find bacon seeds?? I'd love to plant some LOL.

I am pretty sure I saw plant based bacon in the store at one time! LOL

My husband decided to do a shrimp boil for the family tonight. I will make a couple lemon pies.

I guess that is the stuff that those fake Baco's are made of? Some of that new plant based ground beef substitute is a processed food with a long list of strange ingredients.

It is super hot here. I decided to turn on the toaster oven for half an hour and made baked salmon patties with coleslaw and a big hand full of grape tomatoes from the garden. Oh, and home made tartar sauce of course!

I don't understand folks thinking that plant based 'meat', which is full of chemicals and ultra processed, is better for us or the planet, than the real thing. My goal as a cook, is to get away from processed food and commercial additives.

I don't either. I am not referencing anyone on this forum because I don't know but the friends I do know who use it have never turned the package
over and read ingredients. I say "do you know that is processed?" And they say "what? Really?"

I made Braided Bacon pork tenderloin. Cut the tenderloin into 3 pieces, leaving one end connected. Seasoned and placed a strip of bacon on each before braiding. Secured with string. Browned 3 minutes on each side, then oven for 15 more minutes.
