Thanks so much QuiltE :) I guess you answered about everything! As crockpots/slowcookers are not common here you won't find them in thrift stores. I've never seen one and I'm a regular at thrift stores :D

Too bad ... how are your prices in the stores?
Here now, you can get them pretty low cost ... so it does not cost much to give it a try, for the uninitiated!! :)

Where I live I don't know about stores, and if so the cookers will be very expensive. Meaning I have to order online, the one I saw and might buy is about $ 35.00 so I guess that's very reasonable?

I purchased my for $9.00 to $25.00; smaller sizes less of course. I used a liner in mine today, and make Honchey's Rice Pudding in it:Although Honchey did hers on the stove top. Put all the ingredients in it, stirred it a bit, and let it bake for about 7 hours on high before turning it down on warm or low. It really turned out very good...and easy to clean up as well. I put cinnamon bark piece in mine for the cinnamon flavor.

Dh has baked bread in one, more like a 'steam bath' than baking. Love King Ranch Chicken in one; often took it to school to share with lunch shift...five hours and it was done to perfection. Thirty five may be a good price for one where you live, Anael. ...depending upon the size of it and what size you are looking for. After Christmas the price may go down also.

Thanks QNS. I don't think prices will go down after Christmas as it's not common here to use a crockpot. I can order from Amazon.co.uk and need a conversion plug with it. That's no problem and they do have a lot to choose from. With S/H the price will be about the same so that won't be a problem. Maybe Amazon will drop their prices after Christmas? I can wait :)
