I usually make my own waffle mix but found a box of Blueberry
Pancake and Waffle mix-Complete at store. Made a batch of waffles last week and they were perfect.
Last night I decided to make some for supper.
I followed directions the same as before. They stuck to iron and had to be peeled off. They were split down the center. They peeled easily and were browned like the first. What did I do wrong?
We could eat them but were in two pieces.

I've had that happen on my George Forman griddle ~ usually its only the first one, and because I use the "timed recommendation" but the griddle wasn't hot enough yet when I poured it. Glad they were edible!

Now I "test" it for release before I yank the griddle open (gently start to open, but peek in) ... if it starts to split, I let it cook for 1 more minute, and then it seems to release right (sticks to one side slightly, but comes off with a little tug)

Did you lightly spray the first one with a cooking spray? Was the waffle iron well heated when the batter hit it? Those are my only guesses - from experience, of course.

The iron was hot and the red light on. The waffles pulled away with a fork-just separated in the middle.I ended up with two pieces.Top was against top of iron and bottom was on bottom. Nice brown color as they were done.

You were lucky the 1st time. Usually the 1st waffle always sticks because the iron wasn't hot enough. That has been my experience

I found that if I use "complete" mix it sticks to the iron.
All others don't.
