YOu can make small blocks and set them together...
YOu can make small blocks and set them together with sashings and cornerstones to make it larger, that gets rid of strips you may have on hand also.

A charm quilt is one that is made from a package of 5 inch squares they call a charm pack. YOu cna make your own 5 inch square if you wish to , but the charm packages are all from a line of fabric

I wonder if this is why Eleanor Burns usually uses only half of the fabric? she also said once that sewing shorter strips you end up with straighter fabric pieces. Just a thought.

After you sew the strips together and press them...
After you sew the strips together and press them measure them that is the size block you make. Sewing them in alternating directions helps so they are not distroted. Good Luck.

Seams to me that if you are going to use blocks that are alternating they should be the same size. just sauqare them all to 6 1/4 then they will alternate properly.
