It can be satisfying to make a big boom. Unfortunately, making a boom boom in an uncontrolled environment is irresponsible. All fireworks were banned this 4th for us. Too many fires and too dry.

I wash everything in cold. No color running. Comes out clean. Things I want to bleach, I separate and bleach, but that's not often. Spot treating and washing regularly works for me

I would stick with fabrics of the same material. I've also found that a common neutral fabric in the "background" spaces of the design allows for just about any scraps you want.
