    I would suggest a really soft flannel rag quilt, it is quilt as you go, and do it in super comfy feel flannel in some soft colors . Hope you can get it done for her.

    Seems to me a lot of the wow factor in a quilt is contrast, just as with an artist, the ability to see light and shadow is what makes it take shape and be appealing.
