I use Gun Oil. Be sure it is a lubricant without solvent. I works terrific. Leaves no oily residue. This was recommended by Passap to use on knitting machines.

If all fails, you could have a burr on the hook. It's easy to fix. Take some very very fine sandpaper and polish it out. I check the hook frequently.

You need to check what the voltage is in France....
You need to check what the voltage is in France. In Germany everything is 220 Volt so if want to take a Sewing Machine from home you need to get a Voltage converter.
