Just buy a small bottle of soda. Use a very fine nail to make a few holes in the top. Just did this and it works. Din't use seam iron as water is hard.

I don't come up to the top of the material. I come from the underneath then catch the edge of the 1/4 seam then go down under the edge so you don't see any stitching at all.
