I guess I have been doing that all along, but never read its description! I think it's like "traveling" in that fold to the next stitch.......and I feel it holds the appliqué down better than just that little nip of a stitch

I'm betting that would do a better job of keeping the machine stitches hidden when hand stitching a binding on, too...not to mention being able to keep the bulk of the quilt away from you instead of next to you. Definitely worth a try. Thanks, Tartan!
