I guess I have been doing that all along, but never read its description! I think it's like "traveling" in that fold to the next stitch.......and I feel it holds the appliqué down better than just that little nip of a stitch

I am going to try that next time too. I am a rather sloppy appliqué person so maybe this way will help me. Thanks for the tip.

I'm betting that would do a better job of keeping the machine stitches hidden when hand stitching a binding on, too...not to mention being able to keep the bulk of the quilt away from you instead of next to you. Definitely worth a try. Thanks, Tartan!

Silly me did not know that others did the reverse.......

I don't come up to the top of the material. I come from the underneath then catch the edge of the 1/4 seam then go down under the edge so you don't see any stitching at all.
