I buy cheap leather gloves and cut the fingers...
I buy cheap leather gloves and cut the fingers out to use for thimbles. Works great especially if your fingers are big. I also use wooden kabob sticks as stilettos to guide fabric.

I bought a cheap pair of heavy leather work...
I bought a cheap pair of heavy leather work gloves and cut the fingers out and make thimbles. Works for me - I have large hands and I like longer thimbles.
