I have a niece that is highly allergic to latex....

I have a niece that is highly allergic to latex. She almost died after a C-section and a Foley catheter was placed. Now she even has to avoid any place that has latex balloons or other latex products...

My mother made a similar dish with elbow macaroni and tomatoes and spices. She called it - slumgullion(spelling?). We loved it.

I've used just a plain old SOS pad-on metal sole...

I've used just a plain old SOS pad-on metal sole plate only. Once rinsed, use waxed paper with salt and heated iron to help get its slide back.
