I’ve used crayola ultra clean washable markers without any problems. There are times it’s been months before the quilt is finished & washed. Follow the washing instructions on the box.

I would use a mechanical pencil to mark the quilt. No ink or dye that could stain it. Mark lightly & it will come out.

I have a serger as well. When I had the lessons to use it, we were told never use serger thread in your sewing machine. Serger thread is too fine & produces too much lint!

Since I'm still working, I'm lucky if I can sew on a work day! SO I don't set goals per se, just try to finish a quilt if it's for a specific person/occasion
