Thank you for a great idea - I have clamped a ruler on top but still wasn't satisfied so had thought of putting one on top and one on bottom but the paint sticks are the way to go. Very economical....

Many years ago I did almost the same thing - only difference was that I was learning to tie a quilt so I tied it to the carpet and it was the loop kind of carpet - not good.
