I've always had better luck getting points perfect when I sew into 4 patches and then into bigger four patches until you have it in four quarters (more or less ) and then sew the top quarters...

Oh okay. That makes sense now. This one is finished with a hem and a band around the front and neck and the sleeves. Since it's put together that way you have to finish the seams.

I'm not quite understanding how the outer fabrics go on. I have all of my lining pieces cut now. I'm adding a layer of thin flannel to the lining so it'll be warmer.
