70ish to me also. My mom had a pair of drapes with a similar pattern. I agree with fusing. No way I would sew all those curves and try to get them to lay flat. Ugh!!!

When I stitch down the trim next to the band, I do it with a decorative stitch on my machine. Gives it a little extra decoration. Try to pick a stitch that complements the body of the pillow case.
