You could also take a picture of the letter and print the pic on treated fabric for use in the quilt. The actual letter could then be used on a pillow or mounted in a frame.

I use the plastic closure tabs from bread...
I use the plastic closure tabs from bread products, writing the letter/number on each. Pin through the hole. Reuseable and they stay in place well and are easy to remove.
