    I agree with getting a check up and estimate for repair cost. I have a couple of vintage Singers besides my Janome 8900. I also just picked up a Sparrow 30 that was relatively inexpensive.

    Are they Dritz or Coats n Clark? Those are the ones I found on the JoAnns website. I like the new Superior pre-wounds on the plastic bobbins better. I wasn't crazy about the cardboard ones.

    I just bought a Sparrow 30 and did a test run. So far, so good. I am going to take it to a group meeting on Thursday and see how it performs. I love how light it is and still has a metal frame.
