    Another reason I like having vintage Singers. I'd go crazy if I didn't have at least one to sew on.

    it is probably a easy fix and won't be as expensive as a new machine. good luck

    If you only need a machine for quilting, I love my Juki 2010. It's only a straight stitch so you do need another machine, but is it a honey. It does beautiful free motion work too.

    I agree with getting a check up and estimate for repair cost. I have a couple of vintage Singers besides my Janome 8900. I also just picked up a Sparrow 30 that was relatively inexpensive.
