Yes it does diminish the value. Just rub it with beeswax and a clean cloth and don't do anything else to it. I watch a lot of Antique shows and that is what they all say. It is a great table and sew machine, Take care of it and enjoy sewing :thumbup:
i have a feeling that the beeswax also diminishes the value, but i don't know who to ask. the wax seals in the spoiled, flaking original finish and i don't think that's what we want to do. maybe just let it flake and leave it alone.
