Hi Roxa, and welcome to the Party! As a suggestion for a newbie, You could brouse the quilting magazines in a book store, or large grocery store. There are many magazines that are expecially for easy quilts. There will be a small section on "the basics" of quilting skills. However, my number one suggestion would be to go to your local quilt or fabric store (we call them LQS on here) and take a beginner class. If you are not near a LQS, try to find a quilter in your area to help you get started. Most quilters are just bursting with ideas, and would love to have the chance to mentor a newbie!
Best of luck to you!
