I did something very much like this nearly 30 years ago. Left Western Colorado for my home here with only what I could pack in my 20year old car, and a small cash cushion. The kids were gone, off to the service and lives of their own and I wanted to live by the ocean. It was risky and I had no guaranty that I would find what I was looking for. I did however and I never regret that leap into the unknown. Now I am happy in my little cozy home, retired with a pension I can live on and enough of a stash of fabric, books and music to last me the rest of my life. I really can not ask for more than that. I don't know if you will find what you want in Arizona, but you will never know unless you try. Who knows where this path will lead you but if you are as lucky as me you will find a place where your roots go so deep that even time it's self can not dislodge you.
