My mother use to cover old blankets and tie them and this is what I did on my first quilt. My mother had passed and I really didn't know what I was doing, but wanted to make a quilt for my son. My mother was a sewer and had plenty of fabric scraps, so her quilts were scrap quilts, got used so much none left today.

I just love the old fashioned look of tied off quilts.
