My husband and I feed as many as 300 hummingbirds during peak week. 3 gallons of sugar water a day during the peak week. We fed 144 lbs of granulated sugar during the 2010 migrating season.
is our 5th year in this location and they have come each year but one. ? Katrina ? We averaged 200 during peak week in our old location 2 hours away. I do not know how they pick and choose where they will feed but they do. My neighbors do not have the hummingbirds.
This is my hummingbird post. The closeup photos on page 11 are awesome. Should you want to read the post you will enjoy it more if you do the last pages first.

Awwww! Fantastic! I moved here down on the Gulf coast of Texas last August, so I haven't seen it, but when the migrating hummingbirds come in from flying across the water, they crowd the feeders like your photos show.
Just remember you are saving their little lives, thank goodness! j
