Do take the sheets off as far to sufficeintly look at the creases , piping and other folds in the mattress material. Look for small brown specks.
Leave your luggage/tote bags etc. in the bathtub, as this tends to be the furthest point from the food source. When changing clothing immediately put the soiled items in a sealed plastic bag , leave no clothing laying around. Pack your items it the super sized z- loc bags they sell them in the grocery store.
I travel alot for work, and always .. always check the mattress no matter how "good" the hotel claims to be. The idea of bringing that vermin home with me just too scary.
