I forgot about the switchboard! I worked one through high school and college. Came in to work one Sat. and it wasn't working -- there had been an accident and a telephone pole had been hit. I was sitting casually with my hand resting on the metal ends of a cord pair when a call came in. The electrical impulse came through the cord. OUCH!!!!! Worse shock I ever got!
