Been there, done that, so many times that it made me say bad words. The new Singer my son gave me gives a warning beep when the thread is undone and I can remedy the problem before I get frustrated. By the way, I love the thread cutter and needle threader on this machine. Also the up/down needle position and the start/stop button for certain projects.
