Hi, me again. I wanted to tell you that I found an old Singer 101. It has a manual but it's so old it's hardly legible. I don't see a peddle either. They must have come with a peddle, right? I don't even know where to being with this thing. Any ideas? Thanks!
From my experience with the Singer 101 machines, I have one love it and use it all the time, they were always wired into the cabinet and had knee controls instead of foot control. Manuals are available from the Internet and is a must as the 101 was the first Singer machine with a potted motor, internal gears and no belt. The oiling is quite a bit different. When I purchased mine, it had to go the the OSMG (Old Sewing Machine Guy) to be re-wired as the wiring had been cut to remove the machine head from the cabinet. Check the wiring first to see if it is good. Most important.
You also might look for a Singer 15-91. Another workhorse that you can very easily maintain yourself.
