Default Help please....

Hello, I was just referred to this site from Mom3. I'm looking for a machine I can use for quilting and sewing. Don't need any bells and whistles and would prefer metal. Last night my maching broke and I need something fast as I'm right in the middle of a project (of course). Recommendations? Thank you!

Don't know your situation, but I purchased a Janome 6500 from SewingMachinesPlus.com, had it is 2 days, no tax due to them being in California, free shipping, less than $900. and it is a WORKHORSE of a machine. I have since purchased a very top of the line embroidery combo machine, but I will never get rid of the Janome because it is so dependable. I am not affiliated with SewingMachinesPlus in any way, just a satisfied customer.

Thank you Michelle, I will check it out! It's a bit more than I wanted to spend, but worth a look anyway. p.s. Love the dogs pic.

I bought a used Janome MC7500 from a nursing home for $100.00. That was 8 years ago and it is very dependable. Made many quilts for my grandkids and it's still going. It does not need oiling at all. Check Craiglist in your area, you might fined something very inexpensive and in great condition. Good luck on your search.

If you don'tneedfancy stitches, I would go for an older Singer, either a 201----my favorite-----or a301,,,,,,,can't beat the old girls.....

Check your local Craigs List. Stay away from plastic junk and you should find lots of machines in your budget that are all metal.

I love my Brother 1500S. It's metal and has a 9 inch throat. Only straight stitches, though.

Hi, me again. I wanted to tell you that I found an old Singer 101. It has a manual but it's so old it's hardly legible. I don't see a peddle either. They must have come with a peddle, right? I don't even know where to being with this thing. Any ideas? Thanks!
