There are as many opinions as quilters out there. I would ask your friend to come in for one last look before assembly. If that's the way she wants it, who are we to judge and make change suggestions? I hope I'm not sounding negative here. It is certainly not my intent. But even though you personally don't prefer the way she's chosen her lay-out, it's still her choice. And as many have pointed out, it is a modern style look to this quilt.....not necessarily everyone's preference. As long as your friend approves the final lay-out, I'd just go with it. I hope this makes the completion easier on your conscience. I've been in the same boat, but have to force myself not to overthink another's choices.
