Quilting Arts, Quilter's Newsletter, and AQS are my subscription favorites because I am more interested in techniques than patterns. All three are very current in their outlook and coverage. I also just extended my subscription to American Patchwork & Quilting simply so I could get the whole series of Jean Wells articles they're running this year. Once that's done, I'll cancel it.

Think about what you want to get out of a quilting magazine...patterms, techniques, quick quilts, challenging quilts, art quilt ideas, tips for beginners, quilts built over several issues, etc...and then look for a magazine that aims at that interest. Buy a few off the news stand first to see if it's a good fit before you commit to a full year...or more. For three out of four of the magazines I listed above, I go back to issue #1.
