Fabric with GPS to locate stolen quilts, find lost campers or children, etc. was the first thing I thought of.
Whatever lies in the future, you can be assured that there will still be a great many quilters who stick with the centuries old ways of making quilts. It won't be like trying to find a rotary dial telephone or a CRT television today. I'm betting there will always be scissors and needles and pins just as there will always be hand saws and hammers and nails. Some things simply (and thankfully) defy obsolescence.
