I think we have reached a point where we will not discover the answer to this. I am not willing to take it apart and the drip pan yields no number so I think we will just approximate the age as circa 1948. It seems to be a good running little machine and I think we will enjoy many years of sewing. Thanks to all who responded, I have learned quite a bit about the Featherweight.
