I think I would just quilt in the ditch around the "outside edge" of the first complete star, and then quilt in the "outside edge" of each partial star.
I think it might be worth taking the time to print some extra pictures and do some doodling on them to see what might look good - I think "anything" will look good - but to see which might be the easier paths to take while quilting it.
